After shortlisting, 10 startups from different countries won tickets to present their projects at Web Summit. Virtual reality, mobile apps, Internet of Things… Each startup had a few minutes to pitch their ideas to win over the jury of the VINCI Airports Innovation Challenge, composed of experts in IT, extra-aeronautical activities, communications and operations. Startups had the opportunity to propose concepts that improve the global passenger experience, reduce stress or create contact between passengers and local experts in the city served.

The Challenge jury was seduced by the Toulouse-based startup Nanomade and its nano-sensor technology, which can be used to make any surface touch and pressure sensitive.

Web Summit: French startup Nanomade wins the VINCI Airports Innovation Challenge in Lisbon

Thousands of participants attending Web Summit from 6 to 9 November were able to appreciate the quality of Lisbon airport welcome, which showcases the expertise of VINCI Airports. This event bringing tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs together every year also was the occasion for 10 startups to pitch their solutions on the theme of the VINCI Airports Challenge: re-enchanting the customer experience in airports.

Startups had the opportunity to propose concepts that improve the global passenger experience, reduce stress or create contact between passengers and local experts in the city served.

The Challenge jury was seduced by the Toulouse-based startup Nanomade and its nanosensor technology, which can be used to make any surface touch and pressure sensitive. Thanks to a special object-connected ink, Nanomade can detect and record the associated data in real time.

Nanomade will benefit from support by VINCI Airports mentors and experts, as well as the opportunity to trial their solution, in real-life conditions, in one of the network’s 35 airports. The promising startup also received a prize of €5,000.

This is the second year running that VINCI Airports and Lisbon airport partner with Web Summit to offer participants the best experience. Travellers were able to register on their arrival at the airport for greater convenience and time savings, with the airport providing a professional welcome and orientation.
